Instructions and Resources

Presentation Slides Guidance

A presentation is an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to deliver information effectively.

Understanding Your Assignment

Before you begin, consider the following points:

  • Read the activity guidelines carefully to understand the requirements.
  • Clearly define your aims and objectives for the presentation.
  • Keep the intended audience in mind throughout the design process.

Layout

There is no word count for this assignment:

  • Focus on quality over quantity.
  • Keep explanations clear and concise.
  • Avoid overcrowding slides with text.
  • Ensure your presentation fits within the given slide limit.
  • Balance depth of information with clarity and engagement.

If you have a 10-slide assignment, include a title slide at the beginning and a bibliography slide at the end.

If you have a 3-slide assignment, you can add a title slide and a bibliography slide, making a total of 5 slides.

Speaker Notes

Speaker notes are optional but can support your presentation by providing more detail.

If you use Google Slides, Keynote, or PowerPoint, there is a built-in speaker notes function. Alternatively, you can include speaker notes in a Word document (.docx), ensuring each note is labeled with the relevant slide.

If your speaker notes contain information not referenced in the slides, include citations accordingly.

Designing Your Presentation

You may use Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote (Mac users) to create your presentation.

Keep slides uncluttered and focused on key points:

  • Maintain a logical flow and avoid unrelated content.
  • Do not overload slides with information.
  • Avoid animated text, sounds, and complex transitions.

Use a Consistent Design

  • Use easy-to-read fonts (18+ for text, 20+ for titles).
  • Keep slide backgrounds simple to avoid distractions.
  • Ensure graphs and charts are clear and properly referenced.
  • Use color sparingly to enhance readability.
  • Include images only when relevant and provide full references.

Submitting Your Presentation

You can submit your presentation in PowerPoint (.pptx), with supporting notes in Word (.docx) or PDF format.

If using Keynote or Google Slides, save your presentation as a PDF to prevent formatting issues when converting to PowerPoint.
