Grade Appeal: Having Your Module Results Reviewed
Sometimes students feel their grades or feedback do not fully reflect their work. If there has been an issue with your results, you can request a review if your work has not already undergone the double-marking process.
Grounds for Appeal
You may appeal your grade only if there is evidence of:
-
An administrative error, such as missing marks for correctly submitted work.
-
An assessment error, such as incorrect instructions or delivery affecting performance.
-
A failure to follow course regulations, where an academic decision did not align with course policies.
Appeals where you disagree with academic judgment will not be considered. Also, concerns about teaching quality, supervision, or course delivery should be raised with Student Services before assessment.
Appeal Process & Timeline
-
Appeals are escalated to the Teaching and Learning Department for further feedback and review.
-
The review process takes 20 working days.
-
Grades may increase or decrease as a result of the review.
When submitting an appeal, please provide specific details about the module, assessment component(s), and feedback you are contesting to ensure a thorough review.
Final Course Results Appeals
If you wish to appeal your final results after course completion, you will have limited time once results are confirmed by the Academic Board*. After this point, results are locked in for academic classification and qualification awards.
Important Note
*The Academic Board is the process that confirms the final results for your course. It is a standard procedure undertaken by all UK universities.
